Six categories to submit your photo:

• TRAVEL PORTRAITS (travel photos of locals working, playing, celebrating);
• OUTDOOR SCENES (landscapes, aerials, wildlife, waterscapes);
• SENSE OF PLACE (scenes in cities, towns, and villages that suggest a feeling of place);
• SPONTANEOUS MOMENTS (photos that capture fun, quirky, unrehearsed moments);
• PHOTO ESSAY (up to six images that convey a story around a particular theme).

Terms & conditions:

• Pro, amateur and youth divisions;
• Fee $15;
• Submit up to 20 images in 7 categories: Global Warming and Wildlife, Mammals, Birds, Other Wildlife, Backyard Habitats, Connecting People and Nature, Landscapes and Plant Life;
• Totaling $25,000 plus other gifts will be awarded to the winners in seven categories in three separate divisions:
• Winning images will be published in the December 2009 issue of National Wildlife.

Nature Conservancy 4th annual digital photography competition

contest8 Recognizing beautiful nature photography representing the diversity of life on Earth. The contest is open to all participants age 18 and older regardless of residence or citizenship.There are no categories specified. Digital images of our lands, waters, plants, animals and people in nature are all eligible for the competition.

Deadline: September 30, 2009.

Prizes:

• The judging panel will select at least 35 photos to be the contest’s Finalists and Honorable Mentions;
• The general public will select the Grand Prize Winner during the “Voter’s Choice Awards,” from a pool of Finalists determined by the judging panel;
